When booking a vacation, especially in winter, it is very tempting to choose a beach locale. The warm, sandy coasts are so inviting compared to colder climates. Many people ending up choosing central America, especially Costa Rica, as it has tons of beaches and things to do. Playa Jaco, as the area is officially called, is near the large city of San Jose. It is a long beach that encompasses 2.5 miles of coastline, and is home to lots of jungle areas as well. When you come here, you get the best of several worlds all rolled up into one.

Beach days are a great way to enjoy Jaco, and an even better way to just relax. If you prefer lazy vacations where you can get a tan or do a little wading into the ocean, then this is the excursion you want to do. After you take in some sun, you can grab a surf board and ride the world famous waves, or get a snorkel and swim in shallow water, watching the sea life below the surface as they go about their day.

There are tons of zipline businesses that have lots of heart-pounding lines that take you above the action at great speed. There are also aerial trams that let you take a more leisurely stroll across the sky, overseeing the beautiful green landscape.

One way that people get around in Jaco is by horseback. Whether you have never been on a horse or a mater rider, you can get a guided horse tour with these graceful creatures. If you are experienced, you can go ahead with the rest of the experienced group. A few guides will be happy to stay behind and help you with the basics if you are not an experienced rider.

Boats are another important form of local transportation that you may experience a variety of them at Jaco. You can ride on a catamaran for a relaxing day out on the open ocean. Or board a speed boat and let your pulse race as you race through the water at lightning speed.

There is a nearby National Park known as Manuel Antonio that many tourists will tell you is a must-see area. It has gorgeous fauna, lots of sloths and spider monkeys to see, and plenty of picnic spots to enjoy a meal and some local brews before hiking through the jungle.
